THE ART OF BEING ALIVE

The art of being alive is to be in relationship: with our bodies, with each other, with what we want and desire, with what we resist, and with a world that is continually acting upon us and often pushing for something in return.
My work explores what becomes possible when we inhabit ourselves more fully, bringing more of who we are into the way we move, relate, create, play, desire, connect, grieve, belong and respond to life.

INHABIT YOUR BODY, INHABIT YOUR LIFE

We are relational beings. Our bodies are continually sensing, reacting and responding to what is happening within and around us. When we live reactively, we can find ourselves pulled from one experience to the next, dragged along by our emotions and pushed from pillar to post by familiar patterns and automatic responses — pleasing, performing, withdrawing, dissociating, overcommitting, pushing through or trying to keep up. Living this way can feel relentless, confusing, consuming and downright exhausting.

A responsive nervous system gives us agency and choice: the ability to be affected by what is happening while remaining connected to ourselves. It allows us to embrace the paradox of being human — our softness and strength, desire and resistance, our need to belong and our need to remain ourselves — with more of who we are available to meet the moment.

As a somatic educator, this is the territory I work, play and live in: an invitation to become more fully expressed through the whole range of human experience, allowing grief, pleasure, resistance, relationship, creativity and Eros to become part of the material from which you create your life.

Working with Helen is to be in a space where the clarity is liberating, her vibration is grounded and inspires... it has been a reclamation through my body, I rediscovered my feminine sensual self and I feel alive, creative and so ready.

I found myself softening, settling, and actually feeling more like myself in the presence of others. Helen holds the room with such clarity, calm and professionalism. Her boundaries are clean, her energy is warm and steady, and she creates an environment where you can relax, explore and open at your own pace. Nothing feels forced, yet everything feels intentional.

ABOUT HELEN

Helen Reimers is an artist. Her work no longer lives only on canvas; it moves through bodies, relationship, movement, intimacy, Eros, play and the spaces we create between each other.

For well over a decade, Helen has explored the body through somatics, movement, relational practice, the nervous system and the subtle energies that move through and between us. Bringing together her background in art and education with extensive training and lived experience, her work is grounded in an enduring curiosity about the human body, relationship and what shapes the ways we experience ourselves and each other.

Art remains at the heart of how Helen lives, breathes, plays and works. The medium has simply become larger — the body, relationship and life itself.

About Helen →

Working with Helen has not been about ‘fixing’ my grief. It has been about learning how to carry it, honour it and continue living fully alongside it. I am more present in my own life, and that presence has transformed my relationships and deepened my connections with the people I love.”

EROS LIVES IN ALL MY WORK

In this work, Eros is not limited to sexuality. It is the pulse of life moving through the body, it is the part of us that feels, reaches, creates, desires, responds and comes alive.

It isn’t something we need to perform or bring in from outside ourselves. It is already in us waiting for greater connection. When a nervous system has spent a long time organised around protection, parts of our aliveness can become quiet, numb or difficult to access.

As the body begins to feel safer, and there is less need to brace, manage or hold everything together, more of that life can begin to move again.

It might show up as pleasure, sensuality, creativity, curiosity, play, expression, standing up for what you believe in, how you relate what you desire. Eros is magnetic, and encourages deeper connection to self, others, knowing - Eros is our aliveness.

Sexuality can be part of this, but Eros is much bigger than sex. It isn’t about performance or intensity. It is about becoming more available to your own aliveness and allowing what you feel, what your body knows and how you express yourself to come into greater relationship.

I signed up to work with Helen to unlock my sex, but walked out with every corner of my life unimaginably changed. My level of presence and connection, not only with myself but the world and the people in it, has deepened. I’ve found a direct line to power that is palpable within me, and I’m turned on daily, with pleasure and joy.
